Sometimes, parents can benefit from better understanding how their conflict affects their children. The Child in Focus course helps parents learn more about mediation and learn how they can better put their kids first during the process.
There are many issues that you, as a parent will wish to explore throughout these sessions, such as – parenting arrangements, financial matters, communication, school decisions and more.
The Child in Focus course highlights specific insights of children in separated families – their experiences, their fears and their hopes, to help you better understand their experiences as children seeing their parents going through separation.
You will learn how to work through what you can do to help your children continue to thrive after separation and how you as parents, can help and support them too. The course will also help you better understand what FDR is and how you can best use the process to resolve your dispute with your child’s needs in mind.
Going through separation is challenging and both the parents and the children involved. Children have their own deeply painful experience and emotional trauma during separation.
Emotions can be raw and overwhelming, dealing with heightened emotions while trying to manage significant change can often lead to arguments, bitter feelings and periods of poor communication in the first few years of separation. This conflict doesn’t go unnoticed by the child who often sits at the front seat of this conflict, watching the two most important people in their lives disagree and fight it out.
Every child requires the same thing after their parent’s separation as they did before: they need love, encouragement, boundaries, routine, their friends and their social networks. These are all vital in their development and provides them opportunities for additional support.
