The Role

Applications are now invited from suitably qualified candidates keen to be considered for appointment as a Family and Relationship Counsellor.

The appointee is responsible for providing short term counselling for individuals, adolescents, couples and families.  In doing so, the appointee will work closely with Better Place Australia colleagues in developing a coordinated and integrated approach to assisting clients to resolve relationship difficulties effectively.

Required Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, prospective candidates will need to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the effects of conflict on families and relationships together with knowledge and experience in brief therapy approaches, conflict resolution approaches and short-term counselling processes.  Experience in working with young people, couples, families and individuals in providing short term counselling, family therapy and other assistance is essential as is experience in dealing with parenting issues, adolescents and complex family dynamics.  Mediation experience with adolescents and parents will be well regarded and candidates who possess experience working with children are particularly encouraged to apply.

An active provider number with Medicare (or the ability to be registered to claim Medicare) would be a distinct advantage.

This position is available on a part-time basis (0.6 FTE) (negotiable).  Evening work (until 8pm) will be required one evening per week.
